5k and 1 Mile Walk

Time: 5k @ 8:30 AM, 1 Mile Walk begins immediately after the 5k begins
One in six men and families are affected by prostate cancer. Close to 250,000 men this year alone will be diagnosed with this disease. While we have made incredible advancements, men are still dying from prostate cancer and it needs to end. Be a champion and support the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge Baltimore by signing up to run or walk today! With your help we can end this deadly disease that impacts so many of our loved ones.

Entry Fees:
5k:
$30 until September 9
(Individuals who sign up online to compete as a team receive a $5 discount until 6/30 by entering promo code “EARLYTEAM“)
1 Mile Walk:
$30 until September 9
(Individuals who sign up online as a member of a walking team team receive a $5 discount until 6/30 by entering promo code “EARLYTEAM”)
The event will be held rain or shine, and entry fees are non-refundable.
Registration:
This year, a team competition has been added for the 5k run allowing groups to compete for great prizes. In addition to individual results, teams of 2-5, 6-10, and 11+ people will compete against each other to complete the course with the fastest AVERAGE time of all team members. Get your family, friends, and coworkers to join you for a fun race benefiting a great cause!
If you plan to compete as a team, please select “5k Run – Teams” on the Active.com registration page. Teams must have a minimum of 2 people.

Course Information:
The 5k course is new for 2012! The race will begin on the track inside Johnny Unitas Stadium before exiting to run around, and through, the campus of Towson University. Baltimore County Police will monitor all intersections, and Towson University Police will provide assistance while participants briefly pass through campus. Strollers, pets, roller skates, and other wheeled devices are not allowed on the course for the 5k.
The 1 mile walk will be completely contained on the track, as participants will complete four laps of the track on the inside lanes.
Awards:
5k Individuals
The winner of the race will win the coveted Founder’s Cup, a crystal trophy created to commemorate the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge. The top 3 overall males and females will win awards, as well the top 3 males & females in each age group as follows:
19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, & 60+
5k Teams
Awards will be given to members of the winning team in each size category (2-5, 6-10, and 11+).
Amenities:
Tech T-shirts (mens and womens sizes) will be given to all registrants (sizes cannot be guaranteed after 8/24, and availability may be limited for race-day registrants). Water and HEED sports drink will be available at the halfway point of the 5k course, and course marshals will direct racers at major turns.
Packet Pick Up:
Friday, September 7th – The Greene Turtle – Owings Mills (12PM-6PM)
Saturday, September 8th – The Greene Turtle – Hunt Valley (11AM-5PM
Packets will also be available for pick up on Sunday, September 9th at Johnny Unitas Stadium beginning at 6:30 AM.
