Bear loved family, friends, and fun!! This year we have decided to add a 5K trail run to the 3rd Annual Hike for Bear event to encourage a FUN family day and help create that outdoor enthusiasm he gave us all!
The mission of Bear Legacy is to bring smiles to children and their families in times of need. Exclusively through donations and fundraisers, including the annual Walk for Bear, Bear Legacy provides stuffed animals, scrubs, books and other items to children during their hospital stay and provides mittens, hats and other cold-weather gear to people without them in the local community.
Taken too soon, Bear was a kind, loving 4-year-old who took joy in making his friends smile – we want to continue to spread those smiles for him.

5k:
$25 until 5/15/15
$30 from 5/16/15 to 6/25/15
$35 at packet pickup and on race day
Family Hike:
$10 per person, or $30 per family, until 6/25/15
$15 per person, or $40 per family at packet pickup and on race day
Entry fees are non-refundable. If conditions on the trails are extremely poor due to recent rainfall, the MD Department of Natural Resources may not permit the race to be held on the trails. In that situation, we reserve the right to alter the course, or cancel the event under extreme circumstances. Any changes would be communicated via e-mail, so please be sure to enter a valid e-mail address during registration.

Run Course
The 5k will start near the main paved parking lot at Jerusalem Mill and loop around the fields before entering the wooded trail system and returning to the starting area for the finish. THIS IS A TRAIL RACE. Runners will encounter rocks, roots, very small stream crossings (think hopping on 2 or 3 rocks and then you’re across) and other natural trail features. Strollers are not permitted on the trails.

Individuals:
Awards will go to the top 3 overall male and female finishers in the 5k trail race.
Amenities:
Cotton t-shirts are provided to all 5k participants (sizes and availability not guaranteed for those registering after June 15), but participants can upgrade to a Badger Brand moisture-wicking technical shirt for $5 more. Family hike participants do not receive shirts, but can purchase a cotton shirt for $8, or a Badger Brand moisture-wicking technical shirt for $13. Tank tops and water bottles will also be offered for sale at the race. Post-race refreshments will also be available.
Packet Pick Up:
Packets will be available for pick up at the following times:
- Friday, June 26 from 4-8 PM at Gorillaz Fitness in Forest Hill
- Saturday, June 27 from 7 AM – 9 AM at Jerusalem Mill
