3rd Annual Lansdowne High School AVID 5k
Due to the inclement weather forecast for tomorrow including rain, snow, and heavy winds, the decision has been made to cancel the 2016 Lansdowne High School AVID 5k on Saturday, April 9th. School administration made the determination this afternoon that the event could not go on as scheduled. While we are disappointed that we will not be able to hold the race, we understand the concerns of the school administrators and agree that public safety is the #1 priority. Please help us spread this message to anyone you know who may have been looking to register at the race.
We are working to set up dates and times when race t-shirts can be picked up. Once those details are finalized we will send out another e-mail. As stated on the race registration site, the AVID program is unable to refund race entry fees.

AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system for elementary through higher education that is designed to increase school-wide learning and performance. Although AVID serves all students, the AVID elective focuses on the least served students in the academic middle. At Lansdowne High School, we are in the process of improving and expanding the AVID program. The success of the AVID program relies heavily on resources such as field trips, technology, student supplies, and the financial ability to fund SAT testing/score submission and college applications. It is our hope that our 3rd annual 5k race will assist in funding these resources, so that our students can reach their college goals.

Virtual Runner
Want to support the Lansdowne H.S. AVID program but don’t feel like lacing up the running shoes? Sign up as a virtual runner for $20 and you’ll receive a race shirt that can be picked up after the race.
The event will be held rain or shine, and entry fees are non-refundable.
Course Information:
The course will start and end at Lansdowne High School and travel on the surrounding roads around the school on rolling terrain. Pets, roller skates, skateboards, and other wheeled devices (with the exception of strollers) are not allowed on the course for the 5k. Strollers must begin the race in the back.
Awards:

Top 3 overall males and females, as well as the top male and female in each age group as follows:
14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, and 40+
Amenities:
Short-sleeve t-shirts to all registrants who register by March 28th (sizes and availability not guaranteed to those registering after the 28th). Water will be available at the halfway point of the 5k course, and course marshals will direct racers at major turns.
Packet Pick Up:
Packets will be available for pick up on race day beginning at 7:00 AM. Additional pickup opportunities may become available, so check back for the latest information!
